On Giving (2022) for SATB choir, unaccompanied

What does it mean to give? A dictionary might define giving as a transfer of possession or a provision. I feel that in many cases, we tend to associate giving with the material, but giving goes beyond this. When there is no money to buy gifts, we can still give one of the most priceless gifts—love. Love may be a kind word, an act of subtle intimacy, a shared idea for the purpose of edification, a song. Love may be emotional support for those who are hurting. We can always give of ourselves in love, and my hope is that we ultimately dedicate our lives to giving to one another.
